Our client for this project, a leading international infrastructure group, has secured a contract to lead the extension of a major UK substation, which will enable new sources of electricity generation (including new wind farms) to connect to the national grid.
As part of the expansion, the substation requires new distribution and control switchgear in order to accommodate the increased capacity. This critical new equipment needs to be housed in a secure, purpose-built steel enclosure, to ensure its safety, operational effectiveness, and ease of use and maintenance.

The main element of this project, the bespoke modular enclosure that will house the distribution and control switchgear, consists of 2 modules. The reason for splitting the enclosure into 2 modules is for ease of manufacture, fit-out, transport to site, and installation. The modules will be linked together on site by our client's engineers when they're installed on top of the substructure.
Fabrication of the steel enclosure modules is now nearing completion in the factory, with paint preparation work already underway.
