UK Hospital Generator Enclosures

ADE were contracted by a regular client - a major UK provider of power generation solutions - to supply 2 bespoke acoustic enclosures for a hospital project.

They required high quality, robust, and reliable enclosures with high noise reduction capabilities, attenuated to a noise level of just 65 dB(A) at 1m, to house their 1500 kVA Mitsubishi diesel generator sets, which will provide critical emergency standby power to the hospital buildings.

ADE designed and manufactured the enclosures to the specification, and fit them out with:

• 3,600 litre fuel day tanks (also designed and manufactured by ADE), positioned under the air inlets to minimise their footprints.
• Motorised air inlet and gravity air outlet dampers.
• Grit blasted and hot metal sprayed roof-mounted box exhaust silencers, to minimise the overall height of the enclosures.
• 2 personnel access doors (per enclosure).

As the enclosures were designed to be installed on site end-to-end, they also featured scoops mounted externally to the air outlets to direct the hot air upwards.

The units were dispatched from ADE to our client’s facility, where their engineers installed the generator sets before delivering the completed power generation solutions to the hospital for installation and commissioning.
